At the start of March, Okuda San Miguel created a work on the side wall of the Centro Cultural de España in Lima, following his trip to Havana. Inspired by Andean culture, the artist painted his first mural in the Peruvian capital, transforming his goddesses into Inca women surrounded by shamans, birds and a multicolour llama. “I love immersing myself in the places I visit,” explains Okuda, “especially somewhere like Peru with its rich ancient culture. In this piece, I have incorporated Inca ornamentation and culture into my landscapes and characters, with sharp mountain peaks that evoke Machu Picchu.”
