Okuda San Miguel’s “Plastic Island” immerses the viewer in a critical dystopia, which, despite appearing to be the fantasy of a twisted mind, could soon become a reality. In the work, Okuda situates characters from his creations in a plastic landscape, where the only thing that stands out are a few palm trees and a new species: a hybrid of human and plastic, the fruit of humanity’s fascination for PVC.
